From one feed to a creative agency.
The eye for light came from the studio. Mikey Hearson came up as a studio photographer, working across a handful of studios - portrait and e-commerce shoots, lighting faces and products one frame at a time. He had been shooting festivals since 2020.
For a while it all lived on one personal feed - the studio work, the portraits and the festivals, side by side. The live and event side grew until it needed a home of its own. After Dark Media was registered in June 2024 - a new account, and a new business.
At first, AV production was something we did on the side. It is now the centre of the business, alongside the performers we are known for. Because we work with AV companies day to day - their rigs, their crews, the way a show gets lit - a performer shoot can pull on real production scale: proper lighting, a crew, and the kit a stage actually runs on.
Today After Dark Media is a creative agency for the live and AV world - websites, social and production for AV companies and performers across Queensland, interstate and overseas. Mikey still leads the work, and the crews, producers and lighting designers around him are most of the reason it runs the way it does.
